Rules & Dates
Dates:
Nominations: August 1 - August 31
Judging: September 1 - October 15
Winners Announced: TBA

Rules:

What types of fics are eligible?
  • With the exception of two categories, all fanfiction must be based on the BtVS/Ats fandom. No RPF is allowed. Dollhouse fics are only eligible in the Dollhouse category and Firefly/Serenity fics are only allowed in the Firefly/Serenity category.

  • All fanfiction must focus on a femmeslash or female/female pairing or multiple. All persons in a femmeslash couple should be canonically female or original female characters. Fics centered on canonically male characters that have been transformed into female do not count.

  • A WIP (Work-in-Progress) is eligible, but it must have at least three parts, and must have been updated within two months of the beginning of the judging period.

  • Fics less than 500 words are only eligible in the drabble/ficlet category.

  • Fics centered around a platonic female-female relationship (friendship or family) are only eligible to be nominated in the Platonic category.

  • Crossovers are allowed; however, we cannot guarantee the judges will be familiar with the crossover fandom. If nominating a crossover between Buffyverse and Dollhouse or Firefly, use your best judgment.

  • Any fiction that received a "win" in the previous round is not eligible for nomination. Ineligible fics can be found here.

    Who can nominate/be nominated?
  • Judges may be nominated, but they cannot judge a category they've been nominated in.

  • Mods can be nominated, but they cannot nominate themselves.

  • Self-nominations are accepted; however, it is preferred that for every time you nominate yourself, you nominate someone else as well. This is not a hard-and-fast rule, and I won't be checking, but the best part of an awards site is spreading the love around.

How many times can I be nominated?
  • Authors may be nominated no more than once per category.

  • A single work of fiction can be nominated in no more than two categories.

    Nominations will be discarded if:
  • A valid email address or LJ username is not provided.

  • It is riddled with spelling, punctuation & grammar errors.

  • It is friends-locked or password-protected.

  • It is not nominated in the correct category.

  • The author declines the nomination.

What else do I need to know?
  • Categories must have a minimum of three entries to go to judging/voting. Categories will contain no more than ten nominees.

  • Nominations will be taken in the order of author acceptance. First come, first served.

  • Categories that become full before the nominations process is over may cascade* at the mods's discretion.

About Cascading Categories:
Cascading categories are ones that might be split into further sub-categories, depending on the number and type of nominees. For example: the Best Pairing category might split into Best Willow Slash, Best Buffy/Faith and Best Rare Pairing, again, depending on the number and type of nominees.

Oh, this sounds kind of awesome...

*is excited and making a huge list of people to nominate*

Hee! I'm so glad!

I really hope that we get enough noms - part of the reason I started this is because of so many 'mainstream' awards sites saying 'there's not enought femmeslash for a category of its own'....so I made a whole site for it.

Here's hoping it doesn't crash and burn!

Cool... been waiting for this.

Is there a time factor for how recent nominees have to be? Do fics have to be less than 2 months old, or is that rule just for WIPs to prevent abandoned stories from getting nominated?

There is no date limit on completed works. :)

I'm glad you're psyched!

You know, having gone through a bunch of femslashy stuff I like, there's an awful lot of it that's slightly under 1000 words. Which is going to make it an absolute pain, just being able to nominate a whole bunch of exemplary stuff in just the one category.

Any way that word limit could be dropped a little? *looks pleadingly*

Let me confer with my fellow mods. :)

Alright. We've decided to drop the limit to 750. Hope that helps! :)

Also, the Drabble/Ficlet category could split, if noms fall right. Just fyi. :)
